Don’t Have an Official N.Y.C. Trash Bin? Now It’ll Cost You.

Residential buildings with fewer than 10 units are required to put out their trash in official “NYC Bins” as part of the city’s efforts to deter rats. Owners who don’t comply will be fined.The grace period is ending: Residential buildings with nine or fewer units that do not use official city bins for their trash now face fines starting at $50. (Recycling can still be put out in bags.)
